Excluded Sound SFX playing in Sequence Container

Some background - I'm following the FPS tutorial in the Wwise 101 course and reached the inserting silence section here:

Long story short everything indicates it should not be playing the non-included audio files, yet it most definitely is. Can anyone shed some light on this? 

The software has been updated since the course material was made, which has caused some minor cosmetic changes to do with layout mostly, but has not otherwise affected the way Wwise works within the bounds of the tutorial until now.
